Fireplace Mantel and Surround

We make our custom fireplace mantel and surrounds with salvaged antique American Chestnut and White Oak. (other wood sometimes available). The old wood has a unique character and patina unmatched by new hardwoods. Nail holes and worm holes, as well as tight ring growth and the unique color of age make these fireplace mantels and surrounds outstanding for rustic home furnishings and log home decor.

Chestnut Fireplace Mantel with Surround

This Chestnut Fireplace Mantle with Surround was built entirely of 100+ year old wormy chestnut.

This piece has a rich brown tone. The unit has mortise and tenon joinery for ease of installation. The fireplace surround stiles have stop bevel edge trim, and the rail has a beaded edge. Two brackets support the beam with dowels. We currently have a good supply of antique Chestnut lumber.

Butternut Mantel with Surround

Large Butternut Fireplace Mantel with Surround (sold)
This kingsized surround is made entirely of rare butternut timber also known as white walnut. This wood has some nice wormholes add to the rustic character.

The fireplace mantel timber has a polished natural tree edge facing front, while the top and bottom are hand planed. The fireplace surround stiles and rail have nice edge details like stop bevels on the stiles and a bead on the rail. The fireplace surround easily goes together with mortise and tenon joints, and the mantel plugs into dowels on the brackets. Fireplace mantel and surround installation easy since the mantel is supported by the brackets and stiles.

Shipping note: This fireplace surround is too large for UPS because of fireplace mantel length. Shipping by common carrier recommended. A crate charge is added for truck delivery.
